Continuing Programs 2008-2009:
MoveUP A work-readiness and GED program for Clients who are enrolled in the EARN program. Writing, Employability, Business Math and Vocational counseling are some of the program. Students must be referred through their caseworker. This program is available at the CareerLink in Coatesville.
Certified Nurse Assistant Program
You can have a good job in 2 months! Inquire about our 10-week course that teaches medical terminology, math, classroom and skills training as well as clinical experience. The course begins and ends with employability skill development. The course is offered approximately four times a year. Class is available in West Chester. The first four weeks of the class will be offered at our Phoenixville office in Spring, 2009. The following five weeks of classroom, skills and clinical experience will take place in West Chester. Advanced Office Technology
The first 5 college credits are on us! Enroll in a nine-week course in office technology and work readiness with Microsoft Office Specialist Certification exam preparation. This class is offered in partnership with Immaculata University. Participants who satisfactorily complete the course will be eligible to take the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Exam in Word, receive an acceptance into the College of Lifelong Learning and 5 college credits upon matriculation into Immaculata University after receiving Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.
GED General Education Diploma The competition for jobs is intense. A high school diploma is a necessity. Don't be at a disadvantage! It's never too late to get ahead. We can prepare you for the General Education Diploma examination. Classes fill up quickly please call for current registration information. Classes are available in West Chester, Phoenixville and now in Coatesville at the CareerLink. Please call to register.
ESL English as a Second Language Improve your English! Get a better job! Make more money! Free classes offer four levels of instruction with both day and evening times. CC-OIC teachers instruct non-native English speakers from beginner to advanced. Students with advanced English speaking ability are encouraged to enter GED and postsecondary education. LLP Lifelong Learning Program This literacy program is specifically developed for developmentally disabled adults. This 40 week program enables students to improve and maintain literacy skills which in turn enhance job performance. The program is available in West Chester and at our Phoenixville location. Classes meet two evenings per week.
WORKFORCE LITERACY is a one-on-one literacy tutoring program and is available to those Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED or ESL students needing additional educational support or flexible scheduling. This program also serves those needing preparation for specific advancement examinations, such as Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL.) The program provides an alternative to traditional classroom instruction. WLP is available at the Chester County Library in Exton.
I CAN Independent Career Action Network If you don't know what to be when you grow up and everything seems like a dead-end, get a new direction for your future! Treat yourself to a new perspective. Achieve individualized goals such as, GED, Vocational training, college or a good job. Join a group of young people participating in an informal program utilizing a series of workshops that encompass life skills, job readiness and academic remediation. I CAN is open to low-income or disadvantaged out-of-school youth ages 16-21. I CAN is available in Phoenixville. The HOOD, a new out of school youth program for 16-21 year olds is now forming in West Chester. Please call for information.
PFI Preparing for Independence Joblessness and homelessness
are two compelling problems facing many men and women in Chester County.
We offer a program that has helped numerous individuals on the road to
self-sufficiency. Preparing for Independence is a comprehensive employment
and vocational counseling program open to those needing employment or to
improve their lives through better job benefits or greater income. The
program teaches employability skills and provides job search opportunities.
